I really enjoy Mark Berent's books. I have read the first two in the Wing of War series and liked them a lot (I have the next three, but haven't read them yet). When I saw this title (and five others), I jumped to order. It wasn't until I downloaded them that I finally realized these are "SHORT STORIES" and I mean short. I'm glad they weren't expensive but why sell them separately? At least put them together and label them as SIX SHORT STORIES.None of them is earth shattering or immensely memorable. Diverting and interesting, but not worth spending time or money buying separately.

Let Kill the Dai Uy Short Story eBook Mark Berent Reviews
..Well,it's not anything of an exceptional war memoir but it is a pretty interesting ( and fairly well-written ) story!
It's a short story after all, recounting one of the author's experiences during his service in the conflict in Viet Nam in the nineteen sixties! It's fairly short on detail ( which shouldn't bother too many readers ) but it doesn't drag or go on about overly obscure bits of military history!
All-in-all it's a 'good read'! Worth checking out!
An entertaining, humorous story of an air force pilot going on a mission with a Special Forces team. Told with Berent's usual style and clarity. Fortunately they didn't kill him so we still have his superb contributions to military fiction.
When an officer tries to go in the field with special Ops troops he finds how hard it is to fit in. This is a typical story of the new guy trying to join and be accepted by a combat veteran group. Forgetting what it was like when they were a new guy and trying to win acceptance, the squad withholds acceptance and trust of the new guy. Feeling excluded the new guy thinks he is treated harshly and not given the benefit of doubt. Acceptance must be earned by proving oneself.
A short story (or rather an anecdote) of a USAF pilot who joins a ground patrol and very soon finds out that he feels much better in the air. A short and humorous reminder that you should always be careful what you wish for, and that even in the midst of war, with all of its tragic events, something funny may happen. 'Let's Kill...' is written in a style that makes you feel as if you were listening to the story rather than reading it, which only adds to its authenticity and vividness.
I'm not able to add much more than what has already been written about Mark's short story. I found it amusing that he wore his flight suit and didn't carry much more than an M-16 and a couple of canteens of water. The hump kicked his ass. Just think what would have happened if he carried 80 lbs. on his back and did this everyday for almost a year. Still, I enjoyed it and will have to look into his other works

Another reviewer was correct - if you've never read Mark Berent, this would simply be another anecdote to you. However, having read four of his "Rolling Thunder" series, I loved this very short story about his mercifully short tour with a ground unit.
If you've not read any of Mark's other books, please do so. You'll thank me later.
Not much to this little "war story." It provides a good example of why an Air Force fighter pilot is ill prepared to join in the ground war. The author shows skillful writing skill and it was fun to read the little tease this "book" (more correctly a short, very short story). I was disappointed with the mis-information contained in the details about the author that stated; "The first book, "Rolling Thunder," is FREE for all ereaders (part of Mark Berent's five book "Wings of War" series. This is NOT TRUE, lists it for sale at $2.51.
